Anti-aging drinks

It’s my birthday today!  Birthday’s are fun celebrations of our birth, but it’s also a perfect time to make some adjustments in our lives.  In a related post on my personal site (ChristineStummer.com) I share how this time of year allows me time to reflect and be mindful about the path my life is on.  Unfortunately, cancer has touched so many around me lately that it is definitely in the forefront of my mind.  My husband asked me this morning, “If you knew you had cancer today, what is the first change you would make?”  My answer was quick, “my diet.”

What we eat has such a large impact on what we are.  (Notice I said “what”, not “who”)  Food is simply fuel and we are grateful that it taste so good sometimes.  The only way to look and feel better is to be healthier.  We must take care of the organs that take care of us.  Our liver, kidneys, and intestines work hard every day to filter & eliminate waste from our bodies.  Knowing the health benefits of our food becomes more important as we age, because our needs change.  Today’s juices are from Dr. Oz.  He recently had a show about how to do a 48-Hour Weekend Cleanse.  Even if you don’t want to do a cleanse, you can enjoy the health benefits of these delicious drinks.


Kale, Pineapple and Ginger Detox Drink

Ingredients (Makes 4 Servings; Drink Throughout the Day) 
1/2 cup pineapple
2 large cucumbers
1 bunch kale without stems (4 cups chopped)
1/2 lemon, squeezed
1/4 inch of ginger
1 bunch of mint (1/2 cup)

Directions
Combine all ingredients and blend in juicer.

 

Pineapple, Lemon and Pomegranate Blend-Free Detox Drink

Ingredients (Makes 4 Servings; Drink Throughout the Day)
3/4 cup unsweetened pineapple juice
1 lemon
1 cup unsweetened pomegranate juice
3 cups water

Directions
Combine all ingredients and mix in a cup. Enjoy!

 

It’s the start of a new year for me & I’m going to start it off right with a healthy green juice so I can celebrate many more!
